NICK HILL Radio Host / Producer

Some folks are born for radio. Nick Hill’s voice, even on the phone, is so warm and grainy in the right way that it’s gratifying to know he produced his own radio show for ages. As host of The Music Faucet on the progressive WFMU, Nick had a great reason to bring Michael around for gigs and on-air shows. Bits of their fantastic recorded conversations from the late 80s and early 90s punctuate the film.

Nick’s relationship to Michael started in Portland, OR at the height of the Holy Modal Rounders’ west coast fame. He’s certainly not the only person who’s had Michael as a backyard tenant, but for Nick it came at an influential time and the devotion was lasting. Nick was instrumental getting Michael's name out to younger generations, booking him gigs at SXSW and licensing Wolfways on Koch records. He also produced Michael's Weatherhole and the hauntingly lovely Wildegeeses. We were able to collect some select bits of Nick's extensive knowledge over the course of several lovely visits.
